Karndean Commercial At Clerkenwell Design Week 2025

Karndean Commercial, a trusted leader in luxury vinyl flooring solutions, is set to showcase the transformative power of inclusive flooring design at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025 with its immersive installation, Designing for the Senses. This thought-provoking exhibit will spotlight how neurodiverse design principles can be integrated into flooring for commercial spaces, creating environments that cater to a wide spectrum of cognitive and sensory needs.

Recognised as the UK’s premier design festival, Clerkenwell Design Week will take place in London’s vibrant design district from 20–22 May 2025. The event is a cornerstone in the annual calendar of architecture and interior design professionals and will feature the latest innovations in commercial interior design, flooring trends, and sustainable materials from leading brands and emerging talent.

Renowned for its cutting-edge approach to flooring design, Karndean Commercial will use this platform to demonstrate how its comprehensive portfolio of luxury vinyl tile (LVT) products can support more inclusive built environments. The immersive exhibit, located at the brand’s Clerkenwell Green showroom, will showcase a dynamic range of commercial LVT flooring options, blending calming, neutral palettes with bold, stimulating patterns.

These visual and textural contrasts are carefully curated to support neurodivergent individuals, addressing both hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity. Through the strategic use of LVT flooring design, the installation illustrates how materials can be used to enhance comfort, concentration, and wellbeing—offering flooring solutions that support everyone, regardless of how they experience the world.

Richard Allen, Commercial Sales Director at Karndean Commercial, said:

“One in seven people in the UK identify as neurodivergent and experience the world in ways that differ significantly from neurotypical individuals. Neurodivergent conditions include autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, while an increasing number of people are also living with neurodegenerative conditions like dementia and Parkinson’s disease.”

He continues:

“As designers and suppliers of commercial flooring systems, we have a responsibility to create spaces where all users feel comfortable. Through thoughtful, sensory-aware flooring design, we can develop neuro-inclusive environments that reflect the needs of every individual. By considering both hypersensitive and hyposensitive sensory responses, we can implement flooring designs that not only meet functional requirements but also contribute positively to the mental and emotional wellbeing of occupants.”

Karndean’s latest collection of commercial LVT flooring underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation, functionality, and designing with inclusivity in mind. Designing for the Senses is more than an exhibit—it’s a call to the industry to reimagine flooring for commercial interiors as a tool for universal design.
